You choose your own doctor

Under FECA, a federal employee picks the first treating doctor. The supervisor doesn't choose, and neither does the agency.

Already seeing a doctor for a work injury and want to switch? OWCP has to approve that change. Call us and we'll explain the steps.

What you file, and what we do

You file the claim

You and your supervisor file it through ECOMP: a CA-1 for an injury from one event or shift, or a CA-2 for something that built up over time.

We handle the doctor's side

If your agency gave you a CA-16, bring it. We complete the medical part, plus your CA-17 duty status reports and CA-20 attending physician's reports.

OWCP decides

OWCP decides every claim. Our job is to give OWCP clear, on-time medical evidence.

For postal workers and other federal employees

We see a lot of letter carriers, clerks and mail handlers. We know how often an updated CA-17 is needed for light duty, and we keep it current after each visit.

We also see VA, TSA, IRS, FAA and other federal employees from all over the Kansas City area. Many people drive an hour or more to see us.

Care under one roof

Our clinic is led by Dr. Matt Gianforte, DC, with a nurse practitioner and physical therapy in the same building. One visit can cover the exam, the treatment plan and the paperwork.

Under FECA, chiropractic care is covered for spinal manipulation to correct a subluxation shown on x-ray. That's one reason our team also includes a nurse practitioner and physical therapy.

What to bring to the first visit

  • Your OWCP claim number, if you have one
  • Your CA-16, if your agency issued one
  • A copy of your CA-1 or CA-2
  • Your job title and a short description of your duties
  • Your supervisor's name and phone number
  • Any x-rays, MRIs or records from other doctors
  • Photo ID
